The survivor in the Kalkaji rape case has given police a detailed account of the events leading up to and following the alleged sexual assault at Aastha Kunj Park, including her claim that three men posing as police personnel separated her from her male friend.
According to her statement, the survivor had visited Kalkaji Temple on her birthday with a male friend and later went to the nearby park after planning to visit the ISKCON Temple.
She told police that she left home at around 5 p.m. in an auto-rickshaw and reached Kalkaji Temple at approximately 5:45 p.m. After spending time at the temple until around 7 p.m., the two bought chips and a bottle of water outside Kalkaji Metro Station before entering the park through Gate No. 7.
The survivor said she and her friend were sitting on a bench when three men, who appeared to be between 30 and 35 years old, approached them. She alleged that the men slapped her friend, identified themselves as police personnel and took their mobile phones.
She further alleged that two of the men took her to an isolated area of the park, where they threatened and sexually assaulted her.
According to her statement, one of the men allegedly called out to another as “Asif bhai” and asked him to take out a gun. She described Asif as wearing a purple shirt and said he appeared to be the most heavily built of the three. She alleged that he displayed a black-coloured firearm before putting it back in his pocket.
The survivor told police that all three men were involved in the alleged sexual assault and subsequently warned her and her friend against disclosing what had happened.
She said the men later returned their mobile phones and took them out of the park. She then told her friend about the alleged assault, following which he contacted the police control room. Police subsequently reached the location.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has sent the mobile phones of the three accused in the Aastha Kunj gang rape case to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination as part of the investigation into their digital activity and the alleged conspiracy.
Investigators suspect that the accused may have recorded videos of the 17-year-old survivor. Several pornographic videos were also reportedly recovered from the mobile phone of accused Asif, according to police sources.
Investigators are also examining the devices of the other two accused, identified as Mukesh and Hemant. Sources said search histories on their phones had allegedly been deleted.
The digital forensic examination is aimed at establishing the accused persons’ movements, communications and activities before and after the alleged incident.
