The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has alleged that Pakistani security forces and state-backed armed groups were responsible for the deaths of three civilians in Balochistan, including a 28-year-old teacher, amid continuing concerns over enforced disappearances and alleged extrajudicial killings in the province.
According to the rights organisation, teacher Abdul Khaliq was killed on September 21 inside his home in the Gowani area of Gresha in Khuzdar district. The BYC alleged that armed personnel linked to state-backed death squads entered his home and killed him.
The committee described Khaliq’s death as part of what it called a wider pattern of killings targeting Baloch intellectuals, educators and peaceful political voices. These allegations have not been independently established in the material available for this report.
The BYC also highlighted the deaths of two farmers, 33-year-old Munir Ahmad and 31-year-old Safar Khan, whose bodies were allegedly found dumped at Mashkay Cross on September 17 after they had been missing for months.
The committee said Munir was forcibly disappeared on February 18 from the Basima area of Washuk district, allegedly by personnel of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps. It alleged that he was later found dead, describing the case as an example of the human rights concerns surrounding missing persons in Balochistan.
Separately, the BYC alleged that Safar Khan was forcibly disappeared from the Basima area in March by Frontier Corps personnel and was subsequently killed.
The rights body said the cases reflected continuing concerns over enforced disappearances, alleged extrajudicial killings and the absence of due process for those taken into custody.
The BYC has called on international human rights organisations and advocates to press Pakistani authorities to ensure the safety of civilians in Balochistan and to investigate allegations concerning disappearances and killings.
Balochistan has for years faced a separatist insurgency alongside allegations from rights activists and families of missing persons concerning enforced disappearances and abuses by security forces. Pakistani authorities, meanwhile, maintain that security operations in the province are aimed at countering militant groups.
