Advocate Simranjit Singh Dhillon has been re-elected as a Senate Member from the Registered Graduates Constituency of Panjab University, securing the second position with 3,267 first-preference votes.
Dhillon’s re-election reflects continued support from graduates of Panjab University, according to his supporters and colleagues.
Dhillon has been associated with student issues and youth affairs for several years. He served as President of the Panjab University Students’ Union in 2008 and later played a key role in helping SOI secure a victory with a significant margin in 2015. He has also served as Director of the Youth Development Board.
In the previous Senate elections, Dhillon had also secured the second position in terms of clearing the quota.
During his earlier tenure as a Senate Member, Dhillon raised issues concerning students and worked on matters related to their rights and interests. He also contributed to efforts concerning the reconstitution of the Panjab University Senate.
His supporters and colleagues attributed his continued support among students and graduates to his approachable nature, commitment to his work and long association with student-related issues.
Following his re-election, Dhillon will continue to represent the concerns and interests of the Registered Graduates Constituency in the Panjab University Senate.
