Three alleged drug smugglers were arrested with 6.255 kg of heroin during an operation by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) near Saddu Shah Wala village in the Arif Ke area, police said on Thursday.
SSP Bhupinder Singh said the CIA team laid a trap near the village grain market based on specific inputs and arrested Sukhchain Singh, 40, of Jakhrawa village in the Sadar area; Resham Singh alias Kakkar, 54, of Bhala Faraya Mall; and Jivan Nath alias Jogi Karnail Singh, 25, of Langeana village.
During the investigation, police found that the consignment had allegedly been received recently by Satnam Singh alias Satti of Jakhrava village and a juvenile.
According to the SSP, Sukhchain Singh and Resham Singh were allegedly on their way to distribute the consignment near Saddu Shah Wala when they were arrested. Police recovered 6.255 kg of heroin during the search.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Arif Ke police station through FIR No. 119 dated September 22, 2026.
The SSP said Satnam allegedly used drones to receive heroin consignments, while Resham Singh and Jivan Nath allegedly distributed the drug further.
Sukhchain Singh, Resham Singh and Jivan Nath have been arrested, while Satnam Singh and the juvenile are yet to be apprehended.
Police said Jivan Nath, Resham Singh, Satnam Singh and the juvenile had previously been booked under the NDPS Act at various police stations.
