Actor Angad Bedi remembered his late father and legendary Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi on his 80th birth anniversary on Friday, reflecting on his father’s enduring legacy and the changes in the family since his passing.
Angad shared a video montage featuring Bishan Singh Bedi from his cricketing career, along with family photographs and moments with daughter-in-law Neha Dhupia and his grandchildren.
In an emotional social media post, Angad wrote that his children, Mehr and Guriq, are growing up well. He said Guriq has developed an interest in cricket and football, while Mehr is pursuing swimming and track and field.
He also updated his father about the family, including the launch of Bishan Singh Bedi’s book by his wife, and praised her efforts in organising the event.
Angad said the family celebrates his father every day, but Friday was particularly special.
“We all celebrate you everyday.. today just is extra special. I miss you, and you will be happy to know that im still running,” he wrote.
The actor also shared that the family had moved to a new house, before revealing a deeply personal change he had made in his own name.
“Oh one more thing.. I added your name to mine.. Speak soon… Your Son.. Angad Bishan Singh Bedi,” he wrote.
Bishan Singh Bedi died in New Delhi on October 23, 2023, aged 77. One of India’s celebrated left-arm spin bowlers, he represented the country in 67 Test matches and was also part of India’s first-ever ODI side.
Angad was last seen in the 2023 Telugu romantic drama Hi Nanna, directed by Shouryuv and starring Nani and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, alongside Kiara Khanna, Jayaram and Priyadarshi Pulikonda.
The film follows six-year-old Mahi, who lives with her father Viraj while battling cystic fibrosis. Her curiosity about her absent mother leads to an encounter with Yashna and gradually uncovers a story involving lost memories, love and destiny.
