Punjab Police continued its statewide crackdown against gangster networks under the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, conducting 731 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates on the 199th day of the operation.
The campaign, launched by Punjab Police Director General (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to dismantle organised crime networks and make Punjab free from gangster activities. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
During the latest action, police arrested 429 individuals and recovered four weapons. With these arrests, the total number of people held under the campaign has reached 57,767 since its launch.
Police teams also initiated preventive action against 281 individuals and arrested 14 proclaimed offenders (POs) during the operation.
Punjab Police reiterated that citizens can provide information about wanted criminals, gangster activities and other criminal networks anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline Number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the police campaign against drug trafficking under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ continued on its 524th day. During the latest operation, 94 drug smugglers were arrested and police recovered 23.5 kg heroin, 970 grams ICE (methamphetamine), 11 kg poppy husk, 370 intoxicating pills and Rs 8,950 drug money.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the anti-drug campaign has risen to 75,496 in 524 days.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also motivated eight individuals to undergo treatment and rehabilitation on Friday.
The police said both campaigns are focused not only on enforcement action but also on dismantling criminal networks, preventing crime and encouraging public participation in creating a safer Punjab.
