The Greater Noida Authority has demolished an illegally developing colony in Bhanauta village and reclaimed around 20,000 square metres of encroached land estimated to be worth Rs 40 crore.
The action was carried out on Monday as part of the Authority’s ongoing crackdown on illegal construction and land encroachment in the notified area.
Officials said certain colonisers were allegedly carving out plots and attempting to develop a colony on land where such activity was not permitted. Acting on the information, the Authority deployed bulldozers to remove the illegally constructed structures in the presence of security personnel.
Following the demolition, approximately 20,000 square metres of land was reclaimed and brought back under the Authority’s control.
The Authority has directed officials to take strict action against individuals involved in illegal encroachment and construction.
It has also previously taken action against illegal construction in the floodplains of Bisrakh, where around 5,000 square metres of encroached land across Khasra numbers 135 and 153 was cleared.
Officials said the Authority is maintaining surveillance over alleged land-mafia activities aimed at misleading people into buying or selling land and investing in illegal plotting within the notified area.
Sumit Yadav, ACEO of the Greater Noida Authority, appealed to people to obtain complete information from the Authority before purchasing land in Greater Noida.
He said buyers should verify the legal status of the land and confirm whether construction or plotting is permitted at the location before making any investment.
The Authority also cautioned people against unscrupulous colonisers offering land or plots at unusually low prices.
“People are advised to thoroughly check land documents and the Authority’s records before investing their hard-earned money to avoid facing any legal or financial complications later,” the Authority said.
