The FASTag Annual Pass has crossed the milestone of one crore users since its launch on August 15 last year, the government announced on Monday.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the pass is applicable at around 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways. It allows motorists to avoid frequent FASTag recharges through a one-time payment of Rs 3,075, providing validity for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings.
The pass is available for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. Once the one-time fee is paid through the Rajmargyatra app, the annual pass is activated on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle.
According to the ministry, the growing adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass reflects its effectiveness in enabling seamless and economical travel on National Highways across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) last month announced the introduction of ‘OneTag’, a FASTag portability service, on the Rajmargyatra app.
The service allows FASTag users to change their issuing bank while retaining the existing physical tag affixed to their vehicles, eliminating the need to obtain a new tag.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said FASTag has a penetration rate of more than 98 per cent, with around 13 crore users, and has transformed the country’s electronic toll collection system.
The introduction of OneTag is expected to provide users with greater flexibility and convenience while strengthening the digital tolling infrastructure.
FASTag users can check their eligibility for the portability service by logging into the Rajmargyatra app and entering their vehicle registration number.
Eligible users will receive a six-digit Mobile Verification Code (MVC) from their current issuer bank. After authorisation, they must select a new issuer, complete customer verification and finish the wallet onboarding process with the new issuer to complete the portability procedure.
