Hyderabad, September 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has appointed senior leader Syed Abdul Hussain Anwar as its new General Secretary, filling a key organisational position that had remained vacant since the death of Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri in February 2026.
AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi announced the appointment on Monday, along with changes to other important positions within the party.
Syed Mushtaq Ahmed has been appointed Joint Secretary, while Mohsin Balala has been named Treasurer. Abu Talha Amjed has been assigned to assist Samad Bin Abbad in handling party organisational matters.
According to a party release, all the appointments have come into effect immediately.
Meanwhile, Owaisi distributed “All-in-One” study materials among 1,700 Class 10 Urdu-medium students in Hyderabad as part of an educational assistance initiative run through the Majlis Charities Educational and Relief Trust.
The initiative was launched in 2005 by the late AIMIM president and former Member of Parliament Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi to provide educational support to students.
Under the programme, assistance is provided annually in the form of long books, school bags, guide sets for students in Classes 6 to 9, and support towards Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination fees.
As part of this year’s programme, 8,000 “All-in-One” study materials are being distributed across Telangana, in addition to 11,000 educational kits distributed in July. The total expenditure on this year’s educational assistance programme is approximately Rs 65 lakh.
Addressing the gathering, Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern over what he described as the weakening of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs since the Modi government came to power. He also raised concerns about reductions in and the discontinuation of various scholarship and educational support programmes for minority students.
Owaisi said government data indicated significant changes in allocations and expenditure under several minority scholarship schemes, which, according to him, had affected the educational assistance available to minority students.
The AIMIM chief also appealed to voters who had received notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to respond within the prescribed process and submit the required documents.
He urged voters whose names had been excluded from the electoral rolls or marked as “shifted” or “death” to take the necessary steps through the Election Commission’s prescribed procedures to ensure their details were correctly recorded.
Owaisi further advised eligible citizens to use the Election Commission’s voter services portal for SIR-related submissions and, where applicable, submit Form 6 for new voter registration.
