Television actress Erica Fernandes sustained a minor injury while filming an action sequence for the military-medical show 108 Base Hospital – Uri after an iron dummy Uzi prop gun accidentally fell on her nose.
The actress shared a video from the shoot on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of the action sequence as well as the cut on her nose caused by the prop. Despite the injury, Erica appeared to be in good spirits and was seen smiling in the video.
According to Erica, the prop gun weighed approximately 3-4 kg and fell directly onto her nose during the shoot.
“When the prop decides to do its own stunts… While shooting this action sequence for #108basehospitaluri, an approximately 3-4 kg iron dummy Uzi prop gun took a direct tumble right onto my nose,” she wrote.
She said the incident briefly brought the set to a standstill, but the injury turned out to be minor.
“The whole set froze for a few seconds, but luckily the damage was minor just a clean cut. Instead of scrapping the take, we decided to roll with it and keep the real hit in the final cut,” Erica added.
Erica plays Dr. Major Naina in the series. Speaking earlier about the project, she said she was drawn to its portrayal of strong and independent women and believed the characters could connect with younger audiences.
The Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi actress also revealed that she undertook extensive preparation for the role. She researched medical shows, videos, doctors’ and surgeons’ body language, as well as medical procedures and treatments.
“Everyone on our set calls me ‘Dr. Fernandes’ because I became so involved in the character,” she had said, adding that she hoped her preparation would be visible in her performance.
108 Base Hospital – Uri also stars Gashmeer Mahajani as Dr. Major Aniruddh, Nikkhil Khurana as Major Sameer Dixit, Ayoshi Talukdar as Dr. Captain Mili Banerjee, Hiten Tejwani as Dr. Col Suryakant Thakur and Smita Bansal as Lt. Col. Principal Matron Kavita Jha.
