Punjab Police conducted 581 raids across the state on Saturday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster-linked networks, resulting in the arrest of 255 people and preventive action against 224 others.
According to the police, the teams also arrested eight proclaimed offenders and recovered five weapons during the operations. With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested since the campaign was launched has reached 73,916.
The ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign was launched by Punjab Police on January 20, 2026, with teams from districts working in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to target locations and associates linked to gangsters.
Police said citizens can anonymously share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activity through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
The police also continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 574th day.
As part of the day’s operations, 133 alleged drug smugglers were arrested and 2.3 kg of heroin, 120 kg of ganja, 632 intoxicant tablets and ₹1,100 in suspected drug money were recovered, according to the police.
The cumulative number of arrests under the anti-drug campaign has now reached 80,244, police said.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also said 16 people were persuaded to undergo treatment on Saturday.
The Punjab Police maintains online citizen services, including complaint registration and searches for arrested or wanted persons, through its official district portals.
