Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has called a meeting of the seven-member coordination committee constituted to deliberate on the provisions and implementation of the ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026’.
The meeting has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on September 27 at the Chief Minister’s residence in Sector 2, Chandigarh, according to an official communication issued by the Punjab Government.
The committee will discuss provisions of the legislation and matters related to its implementation, with the stated objective of ensuring the highest standards of respect and reverence for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The seven-member panel comprises Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Sant Giani Harnaam Singh Khalsa, Sant Baba Sewa Singh, former Justice Jaswinder Singh, former Justice Gurbir Singh, former IPS officer Jatinder Singh Aulakh and Advocate S. Preet Inder Paul Singh.
All members of the coordination committee are scheduled to attend the meeting.
The meeting assumes significance as the panel has been entrusted with deliberating on issues arising from the amended legislation and matters concerning its implementation. The discussions are expected to focus on the provisions of the Act and the practical aspects of putting them into effect.
The Punjab Government has emphasised the importance of maintaining the sanctity and dignity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji while considering the provisions and implementation of the amended law.
