The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold the first meeting of its newly appointed state in-charges and co-in-charges at the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi on September 29, bringing together the functionaries assigned organisational responsibilities across all 28 states and eight Union Territories.
The meeting will be chaired by BJP National President Nitin Nabin and will be the first collective interaction of the newly appointed functionaries following the party’s organisational reshuffle announced on September 23. The reshuffle covered all states and Union Territories.
According to party sources, the deliberations are expected to focus on strengthening the organisation, preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and a review of the functioning and performance of BJP governments in states where the party is in power.
The meeting is also expected to address coordination between the BJP’s central and state units, upcoming electoral campaigns and organisational programmes. The newly appointed in-charges and co-in-charges are expected to receive guidance from the central leadership and outline plans for expanding the party’s organisational presence in their respective states and Union Territories.
As part of the September 23 reshuffle, BJP National General Secretary Smriti Irani was assigned organisational responsibility for Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while BJP Vice-President Ram Madhav was given charge of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand. Sunil Bansal was assigned West Bengal and Telangana, while Vinod Tawde was given responsibility for Uttar Pradesh.
The party also changed the structure of its communications team. Senior leader Anil Baluni was elevated as coordinator of the communication department, which oversees the national media cell and social media unit. Ashish Usha Agrawal, who had recently been appointed co-convenor of the national media department, was made its convenor, succeeding Baluni in the post.
For Delhi, senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was appointed in-charge, while Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh were named co-in-charges.
The organisational appointments come ahead of Assembly elections in several states and are part of the BJP’s wider effort to coordinate its central leadership with state units and strengthen its election and organisational machinery.
