Complaint Filed Against Rahul Gandhi, Other Opposition MPs Over Parliament Protest in Bihar

Patna, August 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A senior advocate from Jamui Civil Court has filed a complaint against five Opposition MPs, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, alleging that a protest staged inside the Parliament complex hurt religious sentiments and lowered the dignity of the institution.

The complaint, filed by advocate Rajiv Ranjan before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Jamui, has been registered as Case No. 1004/2026. The court is expected to announce a date for hearing the matter.

Besides Rahul Gandhi and Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, the complaint names Samajwadi Party MPs Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad, Ruchi Veera from Moradabad and Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh.

According to the complainant, the MPs’ demonstration inside the Parliament premises was inappropriate and amounted to an attempt to gain publicity despite the issue being under consideration by the Supreme Court and a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Ranjan alleged that the protest had hurt him personally and socially, besides affecting the religious sentiments of followers of Sanatan Dharma.

“Rahul Gandhi, Pappu Yadav and other MPs have hurt the religious sentiments of followers of Sanatan Dharma. Followers of Sanatan Dharma are tolerant; that is precisely why such a demonstration was staged,” he said.

The complaint relates to a protest held during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, during which Opposition MPs raised allegations regarding the alleged misuse of donations associated with the Ram Mandir.

As part of the symbolic protest, Pappu Yadav, an Independent MP from Purnea, dressed as a priest and sat inside the Parliament complex with a donation box. Other Opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, were seen placing money into the box.

The protest ended with Pappu Yadav carrying away the donation box in a theatrical gesture, which the Opposition intended to represent its allegations of misuse of Ram Mandir donations.

The allegations mentioned in the complaint have not been adjudicated, and the matter is currently pending before the Jamui court.
