Padma Shri awardee Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney has been appointed Co-Chair of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) International Council. He will also serve as Co-Chair of the CII India-Gulf Council and the Africa Council, strengthening his role in promoting India’s global trade and economic engagement.
Dr. Sahney is currently representing India on the BRICS Business Council, with India scheduled to host the BRICS Business Council meeting in New Delhi from September 10 to 12.
Reacting to his appointment, Dr. Sahney expressed gratitude to the CII and the Ministry of Commerce for reposing faith in him. He said he was humbled by the responsibility and looked forward to contributing towards strengthening India’s international trade and business partnerships.
Dr. Sahney brings extensive experience in diplomacy, international business and entrepreneurship to his new responsibilities. He previously served as the Honorary Consul General of South Africa to India and was also a member of the Prime Minister’s India-Africa Council.
He has also built strong professional engagement across the Gulf region, including the UAE, Egypt and Jordan. His experience is expected to contribute to enhancing India’s economic, trade and investment ties with countries in the Gulf and Africa.
