Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) hosted an international delegation of eminent legal professionals on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on expanding academic cooperation and promoting collaboration in legal education, mediation, arbitration, and judicial studies.
The delegation was led by Judge Vanessa Zecher (USA), a full-time Mediator and Arbitrator with Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS), California. Other members included Judge Fernando Hoffmann of the Labour Court in Brazil, Dr. (Prof.) Sukh Simranjit Singh, Mediator at JAMS (USA), and Prof. Daljeet Singh, former Head of the Department of Laws, Jalandhar.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on GNDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini, Registrar Dr. K.S. Chahal, senior university administrators, and faculty members were also present during the interaction.
Welcoming the visitors, Prof. Karamjeet Singh highlighted the University’s achievements in academics, research, international collaborations, and value-based education inspired by the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He reiterated GNDU’s commitment to innovation, global engagement, and the holistic development of students.
Judge Vanessa Zecher described her visit as an enriching educational experience and appreciated the University’s academic environment and cultural heritage. She thanked the University for its warm hospitality and commended its unique integration of academic excellence with ethical and cultural values.
The visiting jurists also praised GNDU’s focus on internationalisation and its initiatives in legal education. They expressed keen interest in developing collaborative programmes in the fields of law, mediation, arbitration, and judicial studies.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about strengthening international academic partnerships, encouraging collaborative research, and creating greater opportunities for faculty and student exchanges in emerging areas of legal education and alternative dispute resolution.
