Actress Mouni Roy has once again celebrated her Bengali heritage, sharing a glimpse of her love for the culture and traditions of her home state through a graceful social media post.
Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a video in which she appeared in an elegant traditional ensemble, complemented by long earrings, a maang tikka and subtle makeup. The video also featured her performing graceful dance movements, reflecting the charm of Bengali aesthetics.
Captioning the post simply as “Bengali belle,” Mouni paired the visuals with the timeless Rabindra Sangeet O Je Mane Na Mana, penned by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The classic Bengali composition is known for expressing themes of love, longing and emotional yearning.
Born in Cooch Behar in West Bengal, Mouni Roy was raised in a Bengali-speaking family with a strong connection to the performing arts. Her grandfather was a noted theatre artist, while her mother was also actively involved in theatre. Over the years, the actress has frequently expressed pride in her cultural roots, often embracing traditional Bengali attire and customs on special occasions.
On the professional front, Mouni has signed an untitled film directed by veteran filmmaker Suresh Krissna and produced by Prerna Arora.
Speaking about the project, producer Prerna Arora described Suresh Krissna as one of her favourite filmmakers and said she was immediately convinced after hearing the script.
She said the film is a youthful love story set in the era of social media and expressed confidence that audiences would relate to its contemporary narrative.
Arora also said that she and the director unanimously felt Mouni Roy was the perfect choice for the lead role, describing the actress as elegant, talented and captivating. According to the producer, Mouni readily accepted the offer, adding a new dimension to the film.
