Another Class 12 student has been found dead at her residence in Delhi’s Bharat Nagar area, with police suspecting suicide, officials said on Tuesday. The incident comes just days after another Class 12 student died following an alleged self-immolation at a school in East Delhi.
According to police, the girl’s body was found at her home with a scarf tied around her neck in the area under Bharat Nagar police station. A preliminary investigation points towards suspected suicide, but officials said all possible angles are being examined.
Police have taken custody of the body and initiated an investigation. Investigators have also come across chat messages during the initial probe that reportedly indicate the student had been experiencing distress. The contents and significance of these messages are being examined as part of the investigation.
The latest incident comes days after an approximately 18-year-old Class 12 student died in a suspected self-immolation incident at Sarvodaya Bal/Balika Vidyalaya in the Krishna Nagar area of East Delhi.
According to officials, a Police Control Room call reporting a fire at the school in Delhi’s Shahdara district prompted personnel from Krishna Nagar police station to reach the premises. The student was found in a burnt condition behind the school guard room.
The discovery of the student’s charred body triggered panic among teachers and students, prompting police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Officials said certain items were reportedly recovered from the student’s school bag and during the initial examination of the scene. However, the nature of these items had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.
A Delhi Police Crime Team inspected the school premises and collected evidence to help establish the sequence of events leading to the incident. Police said the circumstances surrounding the student’s death were being examined and further investigation was underway.
