Mandi Gobindgarh/Fatehgarh Sahib, October 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Under the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, Fatehgarh Sahib police, in a joint operation with the Mandi Gobindgarh Municipal Council, demolished an unauthorised structure belonging to an alleged drug smuggler in Sant Nagar, Dheha Basti.
Fatehgarh Sahib Senior Superintendent of Police Shubham Aggarwal said around seven criminal cases had been registered against the person whose structure was demolished. The accused has also been convicted in several of these cases, he added.
The SSP said the district police were taking sustained action against drug trafficking and other illegal activities as part of the state’s campaign against drugs.
He added that the police were also working to help young people struggling with drug addiction return to mainstream society. Special efforts are being made to refer them to de-addiction centres and ensure that they receive treatment.
Appealing to residents to cooperate with the police, Aggarwal said anyone possessing credible information about drug traffickers could share it with the police administration. He assured the public that the identity and address of anyone providing such information would be kept strictly confidential.
SP Amandeep Singh Brar, Amloh DSP Bikramjit Singh Ghuman, Mandi Gobindgarh Municipal Council president Harpreet Singh Prince, and other civil and police officials were present during the operation.
