Former cricketer and television personality Navjot Singh Sidhu has heaped praise on playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, comparing her musical magic to that of the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
On Tuesday, Sidhu took to Instagram to share a photograph of himself with Shreya Ghoshal and rapper Badshah. The picture appears to have been taken on the sets of the streaming sketch comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show.
Alongside the photograph, Sidhu penned a heartfelt note praising Shreya’s voice and its emotional impact on listeners, while recalling Lata Mangeshkar.
“Shreya’s voice sweeter than honey enters the heart, There is such magic in the tunes that touches the soul… Whenever I hear them, Guru… I miss Lata Didi,” he wrote.
Sidhu’s message highlighted Shreya’s ability to connect with audiences through her singing. Over a career spanning nearly three decades, she has established herself as one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, delivering memorable songs across multiple languages and musical genres.
Known for her versatility and emotive style, Shreya has received several accolades, including National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards, and continues to appeal to listeners across generations.
She is currently touring internationally with her Unstoppable Tour, which is scheduled to return to India for a 14-city run from November 2026 to April 2027.
Earlier, Shreya released her song Bairi Piya. The track blends warm synthesiser sounds, clean beats and a gentle rhythmic pulse with subtle Indian classical influences, creating a contemporary sound while retaining a distinctly Indian musical character.
Speaking about her connection with independent music, Shreya said the medium had been an integral part of her journey, giving her the freedom to explore songs and sounds beyond conventional musical spaces.
