Singer Qazi Touqeer has revisited his early days with Arijit Singh, recalling how the two shared a room and began their musical journeys together after meeting on the singing reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005.
During a conversation inside the Bigg Boss 20 house, where Qazi is currently a contestant, the singer spoke about his longstanding friendship with Arijit and their experiences as aspiring musicians nearly two decades ago.
Qazi recalled that they were teenagers when they were selected for Fame Gurukul and shared a room during their time on the show. While Qazi went on to win the competition alongside Ruprekha Banerjee, Arijit finished sixth before eventually establishing himself as one of India’s most celebrated playback singers.
During the conversation, Qazi also promised fellow contestant Gullu that he would arrange front-row seats for him at an Arijit Singh concert after the conclusion of Bigg Boss 20.
The friendship between the two singers recently attracted attention after Arijit publicly expressed his support for Qazi following his entry into the reality show. Taking to his private X account, Arijit wrote, “I will have to watch Bigg Boss for the first time because apna rockstar Qazi hai udhar.”
Qazi has also spoken fondly of Arijit on previous occasions. During a recent visit to Arijit’s hometown in West Bengal, Qazi shared glimpses of their reunion on social media. The two were seen riding a scooter, interacting with locals and playing cricket together.
Reflecting on their journey from Fame Gurukul to the present, Qazi said they might have grown older, but they remained teenagers at heart even in 2026.
He described Arijit as someone driven by pure passion and said the singer had no insecurity or jealousy, praising his genuine approach to life and music.
The two first came together on Fame Gurukul in 2005, when Qazi won the competition alongside Ruprekha Banerjee, while Arijit finished sixth. Their friendship has endured despite their different career trajectories, with Arijit going on to achieve widespread success in the Indian music industry.
Qazi’s memories and Arijit’s public show of support have brought renewed attention to their bond, which began during their formative years as aspiring singers.
