Chandigarh, October 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Punjab is nearing completion, with 99.21 per cent of the exercise completed across the state, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra said on Thursday.
Mitra said eight districts — Moga, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS Nagar), Mansa, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla — have completed the SIR 2026 exercise. The process has also been completed in 55 of Punjab’s 117 Assembly constituencies.
To ensure that all eligible voters are included in the electoral rolls, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will contact electors whose cases involve pending notices, hearings or document submissions. The BLOs will collect the required documents directly from electors instead of asking them to visit offices for hearings, Mitra said.
“This arrangement will save electors from having to visit the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for personal hearings and submission of documents, wherever applicable,” she said.
Special camps are also being organised over the coming weekend in Assembly constituencies where some work remains pending, to help electors complete the required formalities.
Help Desks have been set up at the offices of District Election Officers (DEOs) and EROs across Punjab to address voter queries and concerns related to the electoral rolls.
Mitra said the CEO’s office, in coordination with the election machinery across the state, was making concerted efforts to ensure the process is completed smoothly, transparently and on time.
She appealed to electors to cooperate with BLOs and other election officials and provide the necessary documents and information wherever required to facilitate the timely completion of the exercise.
