Singer Rekha Bhardwaj has opened up about her latest song ‘Shayad’ from Main Na Raha Mera, saying she was particularly drawn to the track’s simplicity and emotional honesty.
The soulful song, featuring Adhyayan Suman and Divita Rai, has been composed by Rahul Nair and written by Dev Pandey. Bhardwaj has lent her distinctive voice to the track, which explores the uncertainty, longing and vulnerability associated with love.
“For me, a song like ‘Shayad’ is about finding the emotion within the words and allowing it to come through honestly. There is a certain vulnerability in the way the lyrics have been written, and Rahul’s composition gives that emotion a lot of space,” Bhardwaj said.
“I wanted the voice to feel as though someone was actually speaking from the heart. What I particularly liked about the song was its simplicity,” she added.
Adhyayan said the song is special because it captures emotions that are not always easy to express.
“Rahul’s melody and Dev’s lyrics have come together beautifully, and having Rekha ji sing it gives the song a soul of its own. I hope audiences connect with what we have tried to convey,” he said.
Main Na Raha Mera is written and directed by Amit Kasaria and produced by Dharmesh Sangani, with Johari Tailor serving as co-producer.
‘Shayad’ is now available on streaming platforms, while its video has been released on the T-Series YouTube channel.
Bhardwaj’s debut album, Ishqa Ishqa, was released in 2002, a decade after it was conceived. Its success brought her wider recognition and led to acclaimed songs including “Namak Ishq Ka” from Omkara (2006) and “Sasural Genda Phool” from Delhi-6 (2009).
