Singer and composer Sneha Khanwalkar has released her new track Puranpoli, featuring actor Vijay Varma, filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, Kratex and Ganesh Chandanshive. The song is getting a standalone music video release on October 28, ahead of Diwali, with the aim of bringing its playful energy to a wider audience.
Originally featured in Motwane’s segment of Lust Stories 3, the track is now stepping beyond its cinematic setting as a festive music offering.
Describing the song’s appeal, Khanwalkar said, “‘Puranpoli’ has a very playful and infectious energy to it, and I love how the song brings together different musical influences with a sense of fun.”
She said Diwali offered the right occasion to present the song independently and encourage listeners to let go of their inhibitions, enjoy themselves and dance.
“With Diwali around the corner, it felt like the perfect time to take it beyond the film and bring it to audiences as a standalone music video. The idea is to get people to let go, enjoy themselves and simply dance,” she said.
Khanwalkar added that bringing together Varma, Motwane, Kratex and Chandanshive for the video made the project particularly special. She expressed hope that the track would become part of people’s festive celebrations.
Lust Stories 3 comprises four short-film segments directed by Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj.
Khanwalkar is known for her distinctive musical work in films such as Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Gangs of Wasseypur Parts 1 and 2. Her compositions have earned recognition for blending diverse musical influences with unconventional sounds.
With its lively presentation and ensemble of performers from the worlds of cinema and music, Puranpoli seeks to bring a playful new rhythm to the Diwali season.
