Washington, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

US President Donald Trump has suggested that Venezuela could become America’s 51st state, with an elected governor replacing its president, as he showcased a tanker carrying Venezuelan crude oil during a campaign rally in Corpus Christi, Texas.

“Who knows, maybe someday soon it will become a prosperous 51st state. That’s possible. Let’s make it. Let’s make it the 51st state,” Trump told supporters at the Port of Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

Pointing to a vessel docked nearby, he said it was carrying one million barrels of Venezuelan oil and described the shipment as a major American oil victory. He also claimed the crude was being provided to the United States at no cost to American taxpayers.

Trump’s remarks went beyond comments he made earlier at Joint Base Andrews, where he described the shipment as a gift from Venezuela. At the rally, he openly raised the prospect of incorporating the South American country into the United States.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio accompanied Trump and appeared on stage. Trump also joked about sending Rubio to Cuba, suggesting he could resolve issues there quickly.

Addressing the conflict with Iran, Trump argued that the United States had not started the war, saying Iran had been waging hostilities against America since 1979. He acknowledged that the conflict had driven up oil prices but said he had been prepared for a much larger increase.

“It’s going to end very soon,” Trump said, without providing further details. He also claimed the United States was benefiting financially from the situation in the Middle East.

Trump was in Texas to campaign for Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Governor Greg Abbott ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. He later travelled to Lubbock for another rally.

The remarks came amid a major shift in US-Venezuela relations. According to the supplied account, US forces captured former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January, and Venezuela’s interim government has since reached oil agreements with Washington.

Trump’s statehood proposal was made at a campaign rally; no formal process to make Venezuela a US state was announced in the remarks.
