New Delhi, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Delhi-NCR is likely to experience a spell of unseasonal rain between October 28 and November 1, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting isolated to scattered showers under the influence of a western disturbance. The forecast comes amid worsening air quality across the national capital.
The expected rainfall could bring down daytime temperatures and potentially affect Karwa Chauth celebrations.
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas is influencing weather conditions across parts of northern India.
The weather agency has also forecast intense rainfall in several central and eastern states over the coming days. Telangana and Vidarbha are likely to receive isolated to very heavy rainfall on October 28, followed by Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha on October 29. Bihar may experience rain on October 29 and 30.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category on Wednesday morning. The city-level Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 250 at 8 a.m., according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s All India AQI portal.
Fine particulate matter PM2.5 was identified as the prominent pollutant. These tiny particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and pose health risks.
Vivek Vihar recorded the highest AQI among the listed monitoring stations at 320, followed by Jahangirpuri at 307 and Patparganj at 291. Sirifort registered 290, Dwarka Sector 8 recorded 286, while Alipur and Chandni Chowk reported 285 each. R.K. Puram recorded 284.
Punjabi Bagh, Mundka and the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range reported AQI readings between 270 and 273, indicating poor air quality across several parts of the city.
