Actress Shehnaaz Gill has revealed that her role in the upcoming Punjabi film Singh vs Kaur 2 feels like the fulfilment of a wish she made years ago after watching the original film.
Shehnaaz, who plays Jasneet Kaur in the sequel, said she remembers watching Singh vs Kaur and imagining herself becoming part of the franchise someday. Thirteen years later, that thought has turned into reality.
“‘Singh vs Kaur 2’ is very special to me because I still remember watching Singh vs Kaur years ago and thinking, ‘I wish I could be a part of a film like this someday’. And now, I am actually here, playing Jasneet,” she said.
The actress described the experience as one of those moments when a casual wish unexpectedly comes true. She said playing Jasneet allowed her to explore several genres and aspects of performance.
“Jasneet was so much fun to play because I got to do romance, comedy, action, and so much more. I had a great time discovering this character and doing things I hadn’t tried before,” Shehnaaz said.
She added that she was looking forward to the audience’s response and hoped viewers would enjoy the film as much as the cast and crew did while making it.
The film’s trailer was released on Thursday, introducing Shehnaaz as Jasneet Kaur, a Bengali girl who finds herself in a face-off with Gippy Grewal’s character, Nihaal.
The sequel also expands considerably on the world established by the 2013 original. While Singh vs Kaur was a locally rooted romantic comedy, Singh vs Kaur 2 takes its story across Punjab, Kolkata and Canada, giving the franchise a broader, multi-continental setting.
