Actor Sunny Deol and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi recently met Sugata Bose, grandnephew of Indian nationalist Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, ahead of the release of their upcoming period drama Batwara 1947.
Sunny shared a video of the meeting on his Instagram Stories, showing him and Santoshi interacting with Sugata Bose, who was heard praising the film.
Expressing his gratitude, Sunny posted the video with a message that read, “Thank you Sugata Bose ji for your kind words and wishes for #Batwara1947.”
As part of the film’s promotional activities, Sunny also visited the Partition Museum in Amritsar with his son Karan Deol.
Sharing a video from the museum, the Gadar actor reflected on the stories of pain, courage, separation and survival associated with Partition and stressed the importance of remembering history.
“Some chapters of history are painful, but we must remember them, so future generations understand the value of peace, humanity and togetherness,” Sunny wrote.
He added that walking through the memories preserved at the museum made him realise how deeply Partition had changed the lives of millions of people.
Sunny is currently promoting Batwara 1947, which also stars Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.
The film marks Preity Zinta’s return to the big screen after an eight-year gap. Batwara 1947 is reportedly based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai.
The period drama is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
