DigiLocker has crossed 72.43 crore registered users, while the UMANG platform has more than 11.66 crore registered users, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Rajya Sabha that DigiLocker recorded around 72.86 crore document access transactions over the past three years. During the same period, UMANG registered approximately 798 crore transactions.
The government launched the Digital India programme in July 2015 in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of expanding access to technology and empowering citizens. Since then, several initiatives have been undertaken to strengthen digital access and enable citizen-centric delivery of government services.
As of July 31, 2026, UMANG offered approximately 2,575 services nationwide, comprising 880 Central Government and 1,695 state government services. DigiLocker provided access to 5,437 document types and services, including 661 from the Central Government and 4,776 from state governments.
Vaishnaw also said the government had expanded the Common Service Centre (CSC) network to improve digital access in rural and remote areas. The centres provide government, banking, financial, insurance, pension and utility payment services.
As of June 30, 2026, a total of 4,07,122 CSCs were operational at the Gram Panchayat level, including 70,069 run by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.
Both UMANG and DigiLocker are accessible through mobile applications and web portals. They are also integrated with key Digital Public Infrastructure components, including Aadhaar, eSign and API Setu, supporting paperless and seamless service delivery.
According to the minister, the platforms provide secure authentication, digital document verification and consent-based sharing, reducing the need for physical visits and paperwork.
