The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for 38 attacks across Balochistan between August 1 and 8, alleging that more than 32 Pakistani military personnel and other operatives were killed and dozens injured.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the attacks targeted Pakistani military convoys, vehicles, camps and foot patrols, besides police posts, trade routes, bridges, railway infrastructure and vehicles carrying minerals and other goods.
The group also claimed to have destroyed several armoured and military vehicles, a quadcopter, bridges and a section of railway track, while seizing military equipment. It further claimed that a Pakistani Military Intelligence operative held in its custody was executed.
According to the statement, the first reported attack took place on August 1 in Dasht area of Kalat district, where BLA fighters allegedly fired rockets and other heavy weapons at four Pakistani military armoured vehicles.
The group claimed that two personnel were killed and several others injured the same day when a foot patrol was attacked in Kund Umrani area of Mastung.
On August 2, the BLA said its fighters attacked Pakistani forces attempting to enter the Sechi area of Washuk district, killing two personnel.
The group claimed several operations on August 3, including the capture of a police checkpoint in Nami area of Bela along the Quetta-Karachi highway. It also claimed responsibility for destroying a bridge near Jojki in the Yakmach area of Chagai district, followed by an ambush targeting Pakistani forces and commercial vehicles. According to the BLA, the engagement lasted around 40 minutes and a quadcopter was shot down.
The attacks allegedly continued on August 5, when BLA fighters targeted Pakistani military personnel and a convoy in the Bartagzi area of Dalbandin and near a gas plant along the Quetta-Taftan route.
The group further claimed that two Pakistani military vehicles were ambushed at Sultan Charhai near Noshki. It said one vehicle was hit directly, killing two personnel and injuring at least four others.
On August 6, the BLA claimed an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in the Chehatar area of Dalbandin, followed by an assault on a military foot patrol in Dali area of Kharan in which one personnel was allegedly killed.
The group said its aerial and drone warfare unit, Qahar, attacked a Pakistani military camp at Sultan Charhai in Noshki on August 7, causing damage to the facility.
On August 8, the BLA claimed responsibility for an attack on a Frontier Works Organisation vehicle in the Radig area of Mand using a remotely controlled improvised explosive device, saying the vehicle was destroyed and several casualties were caused.
The claims could not be independently verified.
The BLA said it would continue its armed campaign against Pakistani forces until what it describes as the “complete independence of Balochistan”.
