Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas has revealed that she is moving on to her next international project, a science-fiction action thriller titled Bluefly, in which she will share screen space with Hollywood actor Russell Crowe.
Priyanka shared a screenshot of a report about the upcoming film on social media and captioned it simply, “Onto the next.”
Bluefly will be directed by Nimrod Antal, known for films including Predators, while the screenplay has been credited to David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank.
According to the synopsis, the story follows a grieving United Nations translator in the Congo who is drawn into a covert mission to retrieve a mysterious aircraft that is not supposed to exist.
“As a Special Operations team pushes upriver through militia-held territory, the recovery becomes a descent — and the closer they get to the craft, the clearer it becomes that they were never meant to bring it home,” the synopsis states.
The project marks Priyanka’s first collaboration with Crowe, the Oscar-winning actor whose acclaimed career includes Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, L.A. Confidential and The Insider. Crowe has also received a BAFTA Award and two Golden Globe Awards.
Priyanka, meanwhile, is set to star in filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The film follows Rudhra through an adventure unfolding across multiple timelines, with the city of Varanasi facing the threat of an approaching asteroid.
