BJP Leaders Pay Tribute to Sushma Swaraj, Recall Her Contribution to Public Service and Diplomacy

BJP leaders on Thursday paid tribute to former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on her death anniversary, recalling her contribution to Indian diplomacy, parliamentary traditions and public life.

Sushma Swaraj, who passed away on August 6, 2019, was remembered by leaders across the party as a compassionate administrator, powerful parliamentarian and dedicated public servant.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described her as an exceptional leader who considered service to the nation a duty. Paying tribute, he said Sushma Swaraj’s life represented devotion to the country, public welfare and democratic values.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shared his remembrance on social media platform X, saying, “Fondly remember Sushma Swaraj ji on her Punya Tithi today. Her grace, warmth and presence are deeply missed.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also paid homage to the former minister, remembering her as a distinguished parliamentarian, External Affairs Minister and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan.

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi recalled her rare combination of conviction, compassion and humility, stating that her contributions to Indian diplomacy, parliamentary traditions and public life continue to be respected.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted Sushma Swaraj’s role as a senior BJP leader and administrator, remembering her contribution during the formation of Telangana. He said she was fondly known as “Telangana Chinnamma” and that her support for the state’s creation remains deeply valued.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid tribute, recalling Sushma Swaraj’s connection with the people of Delhi and her ability to respond to citizens’ concerns with warmth and sensitivity.

She said Sushma Swaraj handled every responsibility, from serving as Delhi Chief Minister to becoming External Affairs Minister, with a spirit of service and commitment to public welfare.

During her tenure as External Affairs Minister from 2014 to 2019, Sushma Swaraj gained widespread appreciation for making the ministry more accessible to citizens, particularly Indians facing difficulties abroad.

Awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously in 2020, Sushma Swaraj continues to be remembered as one of the BJP’s most prominent leaders whose political legacy continues to inspire generations.
