Uttarakhand govt announces administrative reshuffle with IAS, PCS officers transfers

Dehradun, May 23, 2026

The Uttarakhand government has undertaken a significant administrative reshuffle by issuing transfer orders for several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers.

The orders, issued on May 22, 2026 by the Personnel and Vigilance Section, have come into immediate effect, aiming to bring fresh administrative vigour across various departments and districts.

In the IAS cadre transfers, notable changes include BVRC Purushottam (2004 batch) being posted as Secretary, Higher Education Department. Dr Ranjit Kumar Sinha (2005 batch) has been relieved of the charge of Secretary, Higher Education.

Vinay Shankar Pandey (2007 batch) has been assigned additional responsibilities as Secretary of Civil Aviation, Medical Health and Medical Education, while also serving as Health Commissioner and Project Director of the UK Health System Development Project.

He has been relieved of the additional charge of Garhwal Commissioner.

Sachin Bansal (2009 batch), who was District Magistrate of Dehradun and CEO of Smart City Dehradun, has been transferred as Secretary, Planning.

Ashish Chauhan (2012 batch) has taken over as District Magistrate of Dehradun and CEO of Smart City. Anand Swaroop (2010 batch) has been posted as Garhwal Commissioner in Pauri.

Other key shifts include Namami Bansal moving to the School Education Department and several officers receiving new charges in departments like Disaster Management, Tourism, and Urban Development.

In the PCS and Secretariat Service transfers, Girdhari Singh Rawat has been moved to the Information Technology, Suraj and Science & Technology Department as Additional Secretary.

Ilamiri has been appointed as Director, Dairy Development and Director, Women Dairy. Sundar Lal Semwal has been shifted to the Secretariat Administration Department. Several officers in district administration roles have also been reassigned, including transfers of Additional District Magistrates in Haridwar and Pauri, and Deputy Collectors across multiple districts.

The orders direct all concerned officers to immediately assume their new charges after being relieved from current postings and submit compliance reports to the Personnel Department.

These transfers are part of a routine yet impactful administrative exercise aimed at enhancing efficiency in governance, particularly in key sectors such as education, health, urban development, and district administration.

The comprehensive reshuffle reflects the state government’s continued efforts to optimise bureaucratic functioning and ensure effective implementation of various development schemes across Uttarakhand.

Senior officials have been directed to hand over charges smoothly to maintain continuity in on-going projects and administrative work.(Agency)
