Missing UP doctor found dead inside car on Eastern Peripheral Expressway

A 30-year-old doctor who went missing from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on September 29 was found dead inside a car parked on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in the Muradnagar area, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Dr Shivam Kartikeya, son of Gopal Swaroop and a resident of VVIP Mangal Society in Rajnagar Extension under the Nandgram police station limits.

According to police, Dial-112 received information around 2.30 p.m. that a car bearing a UK registration number had been parked at the same spot on the expressway for a prolonged period and that a body could be seen inside the vehicle.

A police team from Muradnagar reached the location and inspected the car, where they found a man dead inside. The body was subsequently taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination.

Police said Shivam’s family had reported him missing, following which a missing person report was registered at Nandgram police station on September 29. A search operation had been underway since then.

ACP Muradnagar Sunil Kumar said the deceased had been identified as Dr Kartikeya and that no visible injury marks were found on his body.

“The deceased has been identified as Dr Shivam Kartikeya. No injury marks were found on the body. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” the officer said.

Police have not yet determined the circumstances or cause of death. Officials said the post-mortem examination would help establish the exact cause, while investigators are also collecting information from the doctor’s family and examining the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and evidence gathered during the investigation, police said.
