Guwahati, October 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

India pacer Prasidh Krishna is set to miss the third and final ODI against the West Indies due to a hamstring injury sustained during the second match in Guwahati, with Anshul Kamboj likely to replace him in the squad.

Prasidh walked off the field after bowling just five overs during India’s eight-wicket victory on Wednesday at the ACA Stadium. After completing a four-over opening spell, he returned to bowl the 31st over but took no further part in the match.

A source familiar with the development told IANS that Prasidh would report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for detailed scans, following which his recovery timeline would be determined.

Kamboj, who is currently playing for India ‘A’ against Australia ‘A’ in a red-ball match in Puducherry, is likely to be named as Prasidh’s replacement. He was withdrawn from the ongoing match after taking 3-34 in 17.3 overs in the first innings. He bowled only two overs in the second innings before leaving the venue, with fast bowler Praful Hinge replacing him in the playing XI.

Prasidh’s injury forced the Indian team management to turn to part-time off-spinner Naman Dhir, who bowled 6.1 overs. Dhir had also briefly left the field earlier due to cramps.

The Indian and West Indies teams are scheduled to reach Chandigarh on Thursday evening, while Prasidh will travel directly to Bengaluru for further assessment and rehabilitation.

Although Prasidh is not part of India’s upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies, which begins on October 6 in Lucknow, his injury raises concerns ahead of India’s multi-format tour of New Zealand, featuring five ODIs and two Tests.

His absence could open the door for Mohammed Siraj, who was not selected for the first two ODIs. The team management could also consider seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was left out of the playing XI in Guwahati.
