The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) has retained its position among the world’s top 800 higher education institutions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, securing a place in the global 701–800 rank band.
The university featured among 2,297 institutions from 118 countries assessed in the latest edition of the rankings. This is the second consecutive year that CU Punjab has secured a position in the top 800 of the THE World University Rankings.
The rankings evaluate universities across five broad pillars — teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry income. CU Punjab recorded a composite score in the range of 40.2–42.3 across the evaluation indicators.
According to the university, only 27 Indian higher education institutions, including CU Punjab, have secured positions among the global top 800 in the 2027 edition.
Welcoming the ranking, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika said the university’s continued presence among the top 800 institutions reflected its commitment to quality higher education and research excellence.
“CU Punjab has continued to maintain its presence among the top 800 higher education institutions globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, from the 2026 edition to the 2027 edition, reaffirming its commitment to quality higher education and excellence in research,” he said.
Wusirika attributed the achievement to the efforts of the university’s faculty members, research scholars, students and other stakeholders.
He added that CU Punjab would continue to strengthen its international presence through excellence in education, research and innovation.
