New Delhi, October 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the prices of commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) with effect from October 1, in line with movements in international benchmark prices.
The price of commercial LPG has been raised by Rs 62.50 per 19-kg cylinder. The latest increase follows a Rs 9.50 hike in September, after prices were reduced by Rs 192 in August and Rs 183.50 in July.
Commercial LPG prices had surged sharply between February and June amid disruptions to global energy supplies and elevated international prices. During that period, the price of a 19-kg cylinder rose by Rs 1,373, from Rs 1,740.50 to Rs 3,113.50, before declining in July and August.
The price of domestic LPG cylinders, however, remains unchanged at Rs 942. Domestic cylinder prices had increased by Rs 89 between March and June amid supply disruptions linked to the West Asia crisis and higher international energy prices.
OMCs have also increased ATF prices by Rs 16 per litre. For domestic airlines, the price has risen from Rs 121 to Rs 137 per litre.
ATF accounts for up to 40 per cent of an airline’s operating costs, making changes in aviation fuel prices a significant component of carriers’ expenses. The latest hike follows increases of Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46 per cent, in September and Rs 5 per litre in August.
The revisions are based on movements in international benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. LPG and ATF prices are revised on the first day of every month and may vary across states due to local taxes such as VAT.
Prices of petrol and diesel, which were last increased in May, remain unchanged.
