New Delhi, September 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Family members of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack have welcomed the killing of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa, who was wanted in connection with the April 2025 attack and was killed during a security operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed that Moosa’s body was recovered during a search operation in the Palmaidan area of Budgam, along with war-like stores. The operation, code-named ‘Op Korag’, was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs and involved the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF. The operation was continuing, according to the Army.

Aishanya Dwivedi, whose husband Shubham Dwivedi was among those killed in the Pahalgam attack, described the development as a significant achievement and praised the security forces for tracking down the terrorists.

Speaking to IANS, she also called for action against those allegedly providing shelter or support to terrorists inside the country.

“If people within the country do not support them, situations like the one in Pahalgam would not arise,” she said.

Dwivedi questioned how Moosa could have remained in India for an extended period without alleged local support and urged security agencies to investigate those accused of assisting terrorists.

Asavari Jagdale, daughter of Pahalgam attack victim Santosh Jagdale, recalled the loss of her father and one of his close friends in the attack.

She said the incident had left a lasting impact on the affected families and that they would continue to live with its memories.

“We will never be able to recover from this incident. It will never leave our minds and will stay with us for as long as we live,” she said.

Jagdale, however, welcomed the news of Moosa’s killing and credited the Army, intelligence agencies, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other security forces for the operation.

“Our Indian Army, intelligence agencies, NIA and all security agencies jointly handled the operation and eliminated him. I am extremely happy about this,” she told IANS.

She said she wanted to thank the security forces on behalf of her family and the families of all 26 victims, and urged continued operations against those involved in terrorist activities.

Former Lieutenant General Sanjay Kulkarni also described the development as a source of relief for the families affected by the Pahalgam attack.

“This is a matter of great satisfaction,” he told IANS, adding that one of Moosa’s associates had been killed about three weeks earlier.

The Pahalgam attack in April 2025 had killed 26 people. Moosa was among the terrorists subsequently identified by security agencies as being linked to the attack. His killing was confirmed by the Army after his body was recovered during the ongoing Budgam operation.
