Patna, September 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has gathered crucial information from Sanjeev Mukhiya, a key accused in several examination paper leak cases, during his remand questioning, including details about members of his alleged network and a “solver gang” linked to the 2017 NEET paper leak case.

According to the investigating agency, Mukhiya admitted to his alleged involvement in the 2023 Constable Recruitment Examination and BPSC TRE-3 paper leak cases. Investigators are now examining the leads obtained during his questioning and verifying the roles of individuals identified in connection with the alleged network.

A major focus of the interrogation was the alleged breach of confidentiality surrounding the 2017 NEET question paper. Mukhiya reportedly provided information about other members of the alleged gang involved in compromising the system used to transport question papers to examination centres.

The EOU has also obtained information about the alleged solver network, including the identities and locations of some of Mukhiya’s associates. Investigators are examining whether those involved in the older NEET case had links with networks operating in subsequent competitive examinations.

The agency is also attempting to reconstruct the alleged chain through which leaked question papers were distributed and identify individuals who allegedly assisted candidates by providing answers during examinations.

Mukhiya’s alleged role in the 2023 Constable Recruitment Examination and BPSC TRE-3 paper leak cases is being separately scrutinised to determine whether the networks involved were connected to those associated with earlier examination leaks.

The development comes after the CBI gave Mukhiya a clean chit in July this year in the NEET UG-2024 paper leak case. A special CBI court subsequently acquitted him in the matter on August 31.

However, the EOU investigation into the older 2017 NEET case remains underway. Mukhiya, who was lodged in Beur Jail, was taken into custody on remand in September for questioning.

A case was registered against Mukhiya, a resident of Shahpur Balwa under Nagarnausa police station in Nalanda district, at Patna’s Patrakar Nagar police station on July 7, 2017. He was booked under provisions relating to fraud, forgery and violations of the Information Technology Act.

Eleven people, including Mukhiya and his son Dr Shiv Kumar, were arrested in connection with the case. The investigation into the old NEET case was transferred to the EOU on June 19, 2025.

Investigators are now verifying the information provided during the remand and examining possible links between the 2017 case and subsequent paper leak incidents involving constable and teacher recruitment examinations. Further legal action will depend on evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation.
