Actresses Anushka Ranjan and Surbhi Jyoti have shared their perspectives on how attitudes towards motherhood are evolving with changing times, highlighting the importance of adapting to modern parenting without losing sight of the essence of motherhood.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Anushka Ranjan said that while the way mothers approach parenting has changed over the generations, the hard work and responsibilities associated with motherhood remain the same.
“I think moms have changed; motherhood has not changed. The hard work your grandmoms must have done, even today the same hard work is being done. But our way has changed. So I feel like with times, like we have adapted to different things, we should adapt to a new way of motherhood also,” the Wedding Pullav actress said.
Anushka also welcomed the growing number of platforms where women can discuss their individual experiences of motherhood, saying such conversations help mothers understand that their feelings and challenges are normal.
“I am excited that there are different platforms where people are talking about their version of motherhood. So you know that whatever you are feeling is normal,” she added.
Surbhi Jyoti, meanwhile, emphasised that modern mothers should not reject traditional practices simply because they want to embrace a contemporary approach to parenting.
She said motherhood itself remains unchanged, but today’s mothers benefit from greater exposure and the ability to question practices followed by previous generations rather than accepting them blindly.
According to Surbhi, modern parents can assess traditional approaches through logic and reasoning and decide what works for their families.
Her comments underline the importance of balancing the wisdom passed down through generations with informed choices that reflect the needs of today’s parents and children.
Anushka Ranjan recently embraced motherhood, welcoming twin daughters, Vira Ranjan Seal and Mahi Ranjan Seal, with her husband, actor Aditya Seal, on August 23, 2026.
The actress has also been open about her in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) journey and the challenges she faced along the way, helping bring greater visibility to conversations around fertility and motherhood.
