Lucknow, October 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Sanjay Singh has criticised the BJP government over the killing of three people in broad daylight in Lucknow’s Saadatganj area, questioning its claims of maintaining strong law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
The victims, identified as Shiva Tiwari, Suryansh Tiwari and Shivendra Tiwari, were allegedly murdered amid a land dispute. Singh accused the BJP of highlighting individual incidents in opposition-ruled states while remaining silent over serious crimes in states governed by the party.
The AAP leader also raised questions over the appointment of Abhay Singh as the observer for vote counting in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections in the Gorakhpur region. He alleged that Abhay Singh was under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) scanner in a bribery case linked to mining mafias and questioned the decision to assign him the responsibility.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Sanjay Singh challenged the BJP’s claims that criminals in Uttar Pradesh fear the law.
“The BJP talks about strong law and order and claims that criminals tremble with fear in Uttar Pradesh. BJP says no criminal has the courage to walk with their head held high. But the case involving Shiva Sharma took place right here in the state capital, Lucknow, and now three people have been murdered,” Singh said.
Referring to previous cases and the reported land dispute, he alleged that a complaint related to the dispute had been pending at a police station since Sunday night, yet the three men were killed in broad daylight.
“The case involving Shraddha Dubey was already ongoing. In Lucknow’s Saadatganj area, a case concerning a land dispute had been pending at the police station since Sunday night, yet Shiva Tiwari, Suryansh Tiwari and Shivendra Tiwari were murdered in broad daylight. Where is BJP’s law and order?” he asked.
Singh also targeted the BJP over its criticism of law and order in opposition-ruled states, particularly Punjab and Delhi.
He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah was visiting Punjab to raise concerns about law and order, while BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia had held press conferences on the issue. Singh alleged that the BJP made a major political issue out of isolated incidents in opposition-ruled states but had no answers when serious crimes occurred in Uttar Pradesh.
“Right under their noses, three people have been murdered in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, and they have no answers. What kind of law and order is this?” he said, alleging that killings and other serious incidents were occurring across the state.
Turning to the MLC elections, Singh alleged that candidates had faced misbehaviour and inappropriate treatment during the electoral process. He referred to Sanjay Tripathi’s contest in the Gorakhpur region and questioned the appointment of Abhay Singh as the vote-counting observer.
Singh claimed that Abhay Singh was facing corruption-related allegations in a case involving alleged bribes from mining mafias. He further alleged that appointing a person facing such allegations to oversee the counting process raised concerns about the possibility of interference in Tuesday’s counting.
The allegations concerning the appointment and the possibility of vote-counting manipulation were made by Singh at the press conference. They were not independently established in the material provided.
The AAP leader’s remarks came amid renewed political exchanges between the BJP and opposition parties over crime, governance and electoral transparency.
