Patiala Foundation & Distt Admin Celebrate Patiala’s 262nd Birthday with Heritage Walk

Patiala Foundation, in collaboration with the District Administration Patiala, successfully organized the Patiala Heritage Walk under its Heritage Recognition Project – iHERITAGE, as part of the Patiala Heritage Festival 2025 celebrations. The walk, led by Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO and Founder, Patiala Foundation, commenced from Shahi Samadhan and concluded at Qila Mubarak, drawing enthusiastic participation from students of OPL Senior Secondary School and registered participants who signed up online.

On this momentous occasion marking 262 years of Patiala’s foundation, Sh. Kundan Gogia Mayor Patiala, who graced the event as the Chief Guest, commended the efforts of Patiala Foundation and the District Administration Patiala, stating that “Preserving and promoting our heritage is our collective responsibility. I congratulate Patiala Foundation, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, and the District Administration Patiala for their dedication in keeping the cultural spirit of Patiala alive. Such initiatives help us connect with our roots and pass on our legacy to future generations.”

For over a decade, Patiala Foundation has been actively curating Heritage Walks to showcase the rich history and royal legacy of Patiala. Since its inception, the foundation has successfully conducted 171 Heritage Walks, making heritage exploration accessible to all through its social initiative, iHERITAGE.

The foundation has also extensively documented historically significant sites, including Sultanpur Lodhi, Ghuram, Samana, Qila Androon, Bahadurgarh Fort, and Baradari Gardens.

Reflecting on the importance of heritage conservation, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia emphasized that “Heritage is not just about buildings; it is about the stories, traditions, and people who have shaped our identity. Through iHERITAGE, we aim to bring these stories to life and encourage more people to appreciate the rich legacy of Patiala.

This walk is an open invitation to everyone who wishes to explore and cherish our city’s glorious past.”

The event was graced by Ms Preeti Yadav IAS, Deputy Commissioner Patiala who encouraged the young students to value their heritage and take small initiatives in taking care of it. She said that Every resonated with the appeal of Patiala Foundation while requesting all resident to own the responsibility of taking care of our Cultural Sites.

The event witnessed the presence of many other distinguished dignitaries, including officials from the District Administration Patiala, the Municipal Corporation Patiala, and other senior officers. Special arrangements for participants were coordinated by RTO Patiala, Naman Markan, PCS, and his dedicated team of officers.

Mr. Naman Markan, while sharing his thoughts laid stress upon the fact that eventually the cumulative effort of every single individual of the society will be needed in preserving our Heritage and we all should understand the importance of this fact.
