Singer Neha Kakkar has revealed that her decision to step away from music and social media earlier this year was not linked to her husband Rohanpreet Singh, as many had assumed, but followed a disagreement with her brother and music collaborator Tony Kakkar.
Speaking to the media, Neha said people often associate a married woman’s relationship-related decisions with her husband, but in her case, the reason was a fight with Tony.
“Whenever a married girl talks about a relationship, people take it straight to the husband. Whereas I had a fight with Tony bhai, and for me, music means my Tony bhai,” she said.
Neha explained that she and Tony are closely connected when it comes to music, and the disagreement left her emotionally overwhelmed.
“Tony bhai and I are exactly like this when it comes to doing a thing, and because I had a big fight with Tony bhai I thought, ‘I am leaving everything, I don’t want to do anything. This world is bad,’” she added.
The singer said that as an artist, she is highly emotional and that the intensity of those feelings influenced her decision at the time. However, she stressed that she could never permanently leave music.
“When you have a fight with your brother, that’s what happens. But of course, we are all artists, and we artists are very emotional. So those feelings came out in those emotions, but I am never leaving music,” Neha said.
She added that her fans’ love was another reason she felt she had to return.
“How can I do such an injustice to my fans who love me so much? I had to be back,” she said.
Neha had announced her social media break on January 19, 2026, saying she was stepping away from “responsibilities, relationships, work and everything” she could think of at the time.
In a post on her official social media account, she wrote, “Time to take a break from responsibilities, relationships, work and everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you.”
She also requested paparazzi and fans to respect her privacy and refrain from filming her.
“I request paparazzi and fans not to film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No cameras plz! I request! This is the least you all can give me for my peace,” she had written.
