Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat will interact with members of Gen Z and Gen Alpha at a youth conference in Mumbai on Thursday, with discussions expected to focus on leadership, nation-building and India’s role in global unity.
The interaction will take place during the inaugural session of the annual championship conference organised by the International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The organisation is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
The session will centre around the theme, “The Role of Youth in Uniting the World, the Indian Way”. The conference will bring together students aged between 15 and 19 years from schools and colleges across the country.
Bhagwat is scheduled to address more than 2,000 students representing over 100 cities, making the event one of the largest youth-led conferences globally.
The programme comes amid increasing participation of young Indians in conversations around democracy, leadership, governance and nation-building.
IIMUN founder Rishabh Shah said the organisation has been working to help young people understand India’s values while preparing them for leadership responsibilities. He said nearly 30,000 students have been associated with IIMUN over the years.
Shah added that this would be Bhagwat’s third appearance at an IIMUN event aimed at engaging with the younger generation.
“I believe organisations like RSS and Indian National Congress, along with other prominent institutions, should be studied by the younger generations. These organisations have different ideologies, and the new generation should learn about them,” Shah said.
Apart from Bhagwat, the conference is expected to be attended by several prominent personalities, including actors Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani, as well as former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud.
Speaking about the importance of exposing youth to diverse perspectives, Shah said that different ideologies should be studied while keeping the larger goal of national progress in mind.
He said young Indians should learn from leaders and thinkers across ideological backgrounds, including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi.
