The Chief Minister’s Office said the redevelopment project marks an important step towards enhancing civic facilities and creating a more convenient urban environment for residents and visitors.

Executed under the Smart City Mission at a cost of Rs 9.18 crore, the project marks a significant step towards modernising urban infrastructure and enhancing public convenience in the city,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

The upgraded High Street is among several major projects completed under the Jammu Smart City Mission, which has so far delivered 125 out of 127 sanctioned projects with a combined investment of Rs 2,940 crore.

Other recently completed projects under the mission include the Heritage Trail and Bahu Fort Food Street. Officials said nearly 98 per cent of the planned infrastructure and public convenience works in Jammu city have been completed.

The completed initiatives include improved urban corridors, upgraded public spaces and modern food hubs aimed at promoting tourism, boosting local commerce and improving facilities for residents.

Only two specialised projects, including localised pond rejuvenation and ecological improvement works, remain in the final stage of execution under the Jammu Smart City Mission.

The Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission focuses on urban renewal and sustainable development by creating citizen-friendly and resilient cities through improved infrastructure and services.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar Smart City Mission, implemented by Srinagar Smart City Limited, has completed 157 of its 161 planned projects worth Rs 3,634 crore as part of efforts to transform the city into an eco-friendly and vibrant urban centre.
