Actress Ishita Dutta is set to return as Anju Salgaonkar in the third and concluding chapter of the ‘Drishyam’ franchise, and says the mystery surrounding the story makes stepping back into its world particularly exciting.
Reflecting on her return, Ishita said the character of Anju has stayed with her long after the earlier films, while the prospect of bringing the final chapter to audiences has added emotional significance to the experience.
“Every time I step back into the world of Drishyam, there is a strange mix of nostalgia and excitement. Some characters stay with you long after the film ends, and Anju is definitely one of them. But this time, knowing that we are bringing the final chapter to the audience makes it even more meaningful,” she said.
The actress added that the franchise’s ability to keep viewers guessing is one of its defining qualities.
“What I love about Drishyam is that it never tells the audience everything upfront. There is always something to think about, something to question. That is what makes returning to this world so exciting,” Ishita said.
Titled ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’, the third instalment brings back key members of the franchise, including Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta, alongside new additions to the cast.
The franchise follows Vijay Salgaonkar and his family after they become embroiled in the disappearance of a police officer’s son. Vijay goes to extraordinary lengths to protect his family as the investigation closes in on them.
Seven years after the events of the second film, the Salgaonkar family has attempted to move beyond its troubled past and begin anew. However, fresh developments threaten their peaceful lives and risk bringing long-hidden secrets back into the open.
Presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Panorama Studios, ‘Drishyam 3’ is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak and is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2, 2026.
