India’s left-arm spinner Sree Charani has set a new record for the highest-ever rating in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, reaching a career-best 817 points following her impressive performances in Japan.
Already ranked the world’s No. 1 T20I bowler, Charani has surpassed the previous record of 806 points, achieved by Australia’s Megan Schutt in November 2018.
Charani played a key role in India’s successful campaigns in the Asia Cup and the Asian Games, helping the team secure titles in both competitions. In the Asia Cup, she claimed 12 wickets, including figures of 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka, as India won by 72 runs to capture the title for the eighth time.
At the Asian Games in Japan, Charani delivered a career-best performance of 4/10 against the hosts, helping India reach the semifinals. She then took two wickets in the gold-medal match against Sri Lanka, which India won by 147 runs. Her performances lifted her rating to a record 817 points.
India’s Deepti Sharma also climbed the T20I Bowling Rankings after taking three wickets in the Asian Games final. She now has 754 points and occupies second place, while England’s Sophie Ecclestone is third with 723 points.
India’s opening batter Smriti Mandhana returned to the top five of the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after scoring 79 in the Asian Games final against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the ongoing ODI series between Zimbabwe and the West Indies in Harare, currently tied 1-1, has brought several changes to the ODI rankings.
West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews moved up three places to fourth in the ODI Batting Rankings, with 711 points, following her record-breaking knock of 182 in the first ODI. She is now just three points short of her career-best rating of 714. Her teammate Realeanna Grimmond climbed 34 places to share 102nd position with 270 points.
Zimbabwe’s Nyasha Gwanzura made significant progress in the ODI Bowling Rankings after helping her side win the second ODI. She scored an unbeaten 18 and recorded career-best bowling figures of 4/33, moving up 52 places to 156th.
Zimbabwe batter Modester Mupachikwa rose 16 places to a career-best 40th position with 492 points, following scores of 86 and 38 across the two matches.
Francisca Chipare climbed 26 places to joint 123rd after recording figures of 2/57 and 2/16. West Indies bowlers Ashmini Munisar and Aaliyah Alleyne also improved their positions. Munisar moved up 23 places to joint 84th after taking four wickets at an average of 10.5 across the two matches, while Alleyne advanced eight places to 58th following figures of 3/44 in the first ODI and 2/27 in the second.
In the other ICC rankings, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner continues to lead the ODI All-Rounder Rankings with 497 points, while Matthews tops the T20I All-Rounder Rankings with 502 points.
Australia’s Alana King holds the No. 1 position in the ODI Bowling Rankings with 753 points, while Beth Mooney leads the T20I Batting Rankings with 785 points. Mooney regained the top spot from teammate Georgia Voll, who has 779 points, following her Player of the Tournament performance in the T20 World Cup final.
Mandhana remains at the top of the ODI Batting Rankings with 790 points, eight points ahead of South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, who has 782.
