Punjab Health Minister Assures TNAI of Help in Setting Up Institute for Refresher Courses at Mohali

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh today announced to help Trained Nurses’ Association of India, in establishing a refresher course institute at Mohali. He was addressing the inaugural session of the two-day National Conference here at Mohali Club.

He said that keeping in mind that the medical field is about continuous learning, the nurses also needs refresher courses to cope with the challenges relating to various diseases and conditions, be it at Operation Theatre, Indoor Care, Intensive Care or critical stages like dialysis centres or cancer care.

Referring to the eighth Master of Sikh Panth, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice day falls today and incidentally the TNAI conference is being hosted at the place which was renamed after the grandson of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Dr Balbir Singh said the sacrifice made by the Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib was to protect the human-kinds from the tyranny of then Mughal Emperors thereby Guru Sahib was commemorated as “Hind di Chadar”.

He said in line with mankind services the nursing profession has high respect across the world and the demand of Indian Nurses is most sought after across the globe because of their utmost dedication towards their profession.

He said that even as doctor uses injection on a patient but the nurses use love and compassion to make them healthy. Terming the nursing profession, a most important part of the medical profession, he said that from birth to death, the duty of a nurse has its responsibility to ensure the health care of all.

Even, a doctor could not do any more without the support of nurses. He said that he would feel proud to have the opportunity of setting up a refresher course institute at Mohali with the help of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India and as a special initiative of its’ Secretary General Mrs Evelyn P Kannan and the State Government will provide full support in this noble cause.

Listing the priorities of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann towards improving health services in the Public Sector, he said that quality healthcare is not possible without the help of paramedics, so the role of nurses at every level is appreciable.

He also congratulated the president-elect of the TNAI, Mrs Annie Kumar who currently working as National Vice President.

Asking the nurses who arrived here from across the country to have the opportunity to see Chandigarh and Punjab’s historic and most famous places, he said that we felt proud to have such a great gathering on our soil.

Besides the National body of the Traind Nurses’ Association of India, the Registrar, Punjab Nurses’ Registration Council, Punjab, Dr Puneet Girdhar and Officiating Civil Surgeon, SAS Nagar Dr Renu Singh were also present.
