Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has recalled how his late father, an astrologer, had predicted that he would become an actor, even before he had considered entering the film industry.
The actor shared the memorable incident during the grand finale of dance reality show India’s Best Dancer Season 5, where he appeared as a special guest.
During a conversation with host Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who was discussing contestant Ritesh’s predictions on the show, Jackie was asked about his father and his astrological abilities.
Recalling his father’s quiet nature and dedication to his work, Jackie said that he had never spoken much but had a good clientele. He also remembered how his father had predicted his future when he was unsure about pursuing higher education.
Jackie said, “Baba ke baare mein yeh hain ki zyada bolte nahi the, apne kaam pe dhyan tha unka aur unke clients bade acche the. Vaise heen baba ne mera prediction kiya tha. Main 11th pass karne ke baad mein, main socha paisa waste nahi kar sakunga Baba ka poora college ka. Toh main bola ki main college nahi karunga, main kahin kaam karunga. Toh baba ne Bola mujhe, Beta, tu actor banega. Toh woh Baba ne mere ko bola tha. Toh astrology unka joh tha, woh ekdam accurate baitha tha mere liye.”
The actor explained that after passing Class 11, he was concerned about the financial burden of a full college education on his father. He told him that he would not pursue college and would instead look for a job. His father responded by telling him that he would become an actor, a prediction Jackie said had turned out to be accurate in his case.
Jackie has also spoken in the past about his struggling days, when he lived with his parents and brother in a small house. Reflecting on that period, he had spoken about the love and togetherness within the family, contrasting it with the distance he feels despite now living in a large house.
