New Delhi, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The brothers of Delhi-based content creator Amir Shokeen have condemned his alleged racial and derogatory remarks against a youth from Tripura in a viral video, calling for strict legal action and distancing themselves from his conduct.

Mohammad Waseem Raza, one of Shokeen’s brothers, said the family had been living separately from him for the past 12 to 15 years because of what he described as his involvement in hooliganism.

“Although he is my younger brother, we have been living separately for the past 12-15 years because of his hooliganism. He has a bad reputation in this area. What he said and did was completely wrong. He is a goon, and strict legal action should be taken against him,” Raza said.

He also alleged that several cases had been registered against Shokeen and claimed that local residents were unhappy with his behaviour.

Another brother, Aalishaan, also criticised the alleged conduct, saying the video was inappropriate. He said he was around 20 years older than Shokeen but could not speak on his behalf.

The controversy erupted after a purported video showing Shokeen making racially derogatory remarks against a youth from Tripura circulated widely on social media, drawing condemnation across the Northeast.

Shokeen posted an apology video on Wednesday, claiming the clip was scripted and that he knew the man featured in it. He said the individual had previously worked at a friend’s cafe in Ahmedabad and maintained that their interaction was intended as humour, with both participating. He denied intending to insult anyone.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed the state’s Director General of Police to coordinate with Delhi Police. A case has been registered against Shokeen in Tripura, and a state police team has travelled to Delhi to reach his residence.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned the alleged conduct and called for action. Meanwhile, the Tripura Students Forum Delhi submitted a complaint to Delhi Police on Thursday seeking an FIR and an urgent investigation into allegations of sexual assault, racial harassment and humiliation involving the individual featured in the video.
